The A's and B's and Wedding Cinematography / Videography
For many, considering different wedding packages and cinematography/videography options is a
very difficult task. Different companies use different terms to mean the same things, or
perhaps use the same terms to mean different things. To assist you in asking the right
questions and getting the clarification you need, we have provided some definitions of terms
commonly used. We hope that an understanding of these terms helps you determine which of our
services is desired or helps you compare our services with those of another quality wedding cinematographer.
Making decisions about wedding cinematography begins with knowing what you want. If you've seen what's
possible with the highly edited, emotive productions that our company and other quality cinematographers
offer (look at a music video for inspiration --- it has a story, a feel, an emotion, and is usually really
interesting and beautiful to look at) then you'll be excited by the fact that this type of service is possible for you today.
First, here's some help with the terms for the products:
Raw Footage: This is the unedited footage shot on DV for your wedding. Each camera will have a different view and different elements.
Edited Raw Footage This is what some call a "wedding video" with the two cameras put together in rough/raw form. It may have transitions, or even special effects added but will move at a slow pace and lack the emotion and feel of a more edited product. Usually under 10 hours of editing.
Wedding Highlights: This references a more edited product of varying lengths and, when done well, can bring to life the essence of your wedding day --- the mood, the sights and the sounds.
Short Feature Films: Like motion picture segments, this highly edited product takes the best of the best and is edited with the beats of music, creativity and attention to creating the essence of the entire day in 15 minute segments (i.e. Pre-Wedding, Ceremony, Reception) This is the product that will make you laugh, cry, shout, remember or see for the first time the things that would otherwise be forgotten. Like any good feature film, it should make you want to see it again.

Shooting a wedding is like making a movie --- in a single take!
It is a difficult, challenging art form. That's why we take the time to do the extra things that make it Sterling..
- We make available to the wedding market the same broad-cast quality images/commercial cameras and sound we offer our commercial and industrial clients
- Use of a steady-cam produces dynamic shots that move with you (rather than static tri-pod shots that cannot quickly change position as people move).
- Scanned and revised images from your photos will be better than the originals (many people simply capture the images on digital video with a camera - a quicker way, but with poorer results). We'll give you a complimentary CD of the improved photos.
- Digital pictures will be taken from your footage and enhanced for your enjoyment and integration on your custom covers. You'll also receive a complimentary CD of these photos.
- Every production is completely unique. Take a look and you'll see what we mean. Different feel, completely customized for the individuals with whom we work
- We always rehearse with you so that we know where to be, when and can make a plan for getting the best, least obtrusive shots and sound
- Unlimited hours on the day of your wedding - for two camera persons.
- The master DV tapes belong to you (we can store them or you can keep them locked away at home)
